Tiffinie Alvarez is a recent college graduate and new sixth grade English teacher. She was born and raised in Massachusetts. She began writing in high school after being encouraged by her English teachers to pursue personal writing. She began writing short essays but has since moved towards poetry and is currently working on a book of poems. She studied creative writing, literary criticism, and education during her time in college. She aims to encourage her students to write as a means of expression, the same way her English teachers encouraged her. When she is not writing or planning lessons, she can be found painting, scrapbooking, and perusing Barnes and Noble for new reads.
She received her first publication credit at the age of seventeen through the organization What Kids Can Do. Her work was recently accepted by Syndrome Magazine and will be featured in their book of humorous essays being released in the coming year. Her work has also been featured in Beyond Words Literary Magazine, Proem Journal, and an anthology titled “Stirred but Not Shaken.” For more information you can find her on twitter (@alvareztiffinie) or on Instagram (@tiffiniealvarez).
